Social TV

Social Media to a great extent has become a reflection of our offline lives. Although most of us are curating an identity on the social web, its elements contain a shade of our real self. Our expressions on social media are shaped to a good extent by our offline experiences. One of these experiences is our rendezvous with Television.

Online shopping and offline surveys

These days I've been spending some time doing a survey finding out the buying habits of females online. My objective was to find the buying online buying habits of females below 25 years of age. To my surprise, very few access access internet and those who do have a lot of apprehensions about buying online. Their apprehensions are justified considering spam mails that overflow the mail boxes every day. Pop up ads were a strict no-no. Out of 25 people I surveyed, only 2 said that they would click on pop up ads. They had doubts on the trustworthiness of the websites because of bad first experiences. My personal experience of buying sunglasses from a popular website wasn't very good too. In my opinion, these websites have created a mistrust of the apprehensive online buyer on genuine online sellers. The reinforcement theory states that behavior is a function of consequences. Hence the first-timer with a bad experience is bound to show a negative online buying behavior. TV still ...

My name is 9801234...

Mobile number could become your identification if alcatel-lucent's plans materialize. Many people had this problem of their parents keeping strange names that were later made fun of during school and college years. Many even resorted to changing their names to avoid the embarrassment caused. During my schooling in kerala, I had a classmate who changed her name from Radha to Radhika, since Radha was made fun off by her classmates. Imagine what her parents, who were both doctors might have thought of the whole episode. But here comes an ingenious solutions to all the problems faced by those battling strange names woes. Alcatel-Lucent is working with the government of India to make the mobile number a personal identification number. So if it happens, you might call your friend as " Hi 98..., I am 987... " One positive effect of this will be that the mugging up power of people and comfortability with numbers will increase resulting in more people getting into number crunchin...

Alternative career choices for 5 Indian celebrities

Statutory Warning : You might just fall asleep or have a nervous breakdown while reading this post The one interesting thing that happened today was a comment by possibly a Pakistani, who called me a stupid for calling the Pakistan PM a joker in a previous post and suggested an alternative career for me. Better you sell sing outside a bus stop or railway stations rather than posting your meaningless scraps here. I was watching Fantastic 5 on MTV today and Cyrus Sahukar (the anchor), shared 5 alternative careers for 5 " celebs " including Shilpa Shetty, Raja Choudhary, Irfan Pathan,Upen Patel & Subhash Ghai. I have my own list of five celebrities, who have performed abysmally and I strongly feel that they need to search for an alternative career, for the betterment of everybody. 1. Rakhi Sawant : This twat has now become a sore in the eye and a pain in the ear. Its advisable to press the mute button on TV when she is on air, and those implants of her occupying maximum...

Get me a panic killer

The word panic has donned the headlines of papers like the dust in a house near a busy road. The dust in my house, just takes the life out of me. The word “absolute panic“in the Times of India was referred by a person who had gone there to drop his son. The word playing like dĂ©jĂ  vu in the minds of most Indians, atleast the upper classes of the society is PANIC. Like a disease, it has spread swiftly through the air, catapulted by the media, especially television. While some people have started active campaign against some prominent journalists (Barkha Dutt), there still seems to be a slim chance of the media being under control, until another vociferous medium comes in, which is highly unlikely. But there is a need, a strong one to get some panic killers, to relieve the panicky pain, temporarily. I don’t think the crappy stuff of Headlines Today, such as over the top Bigg Boss shit that it continuously keeps airing or the internet videos that keep rolling indicating a dearth of conte...
