Is your product a family festival?

We normally celebrate festivals with family and friends and that makes these occasions engaging. Mint reports   “ I think what we’ve found is that when you can use products with your friends and your family and the people you care about they tend to be more engaging ,” ~Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook founder)

Twitter for introverts

Are you afraid to speak in public or to a person about small trivial issues ? Are you hesitant to share your problems ? Do you find it tough to strike conversations with strangers ? Do you find yourself out of words many times ? Start using twitter . I was a chatter since childhood. But thats not always the case with people. What I have found is that twitter can be helpful in giving you words and ideas. You are behind the screen. The introversion will slowly go (atleast online) once you start tweeting. You then can build up a repository of ideas, news and opinions you come across through your twitter rendezveous. Follow these 5 steps to get rid of your introversion through twitter:- Once you've opened an account, follow the right people (opinion makers) Use "@" tag to talk to people. Don't hesitate, they won't eat you for a stupid idea Share your thoughts on trending topics using "#tags", even if they are bane Do reply your re-tweets. Also retwee...

Can twitter bring a revolution?

Instant tweeting means faster transfer of information. This in turn leads to efficiency in markets, news etc. Now think about another scenario. A country with high internet usage. On a fine sunny day an office holder is is caught because of corrupt practices. The law (esp in India) will take its own long course. But the innovative tweeters have started tweeting. This has led to further tweets and re-tweets and trending topics comes in. Then comes the influential tweeter who writes "Meeting at cross roads - 1200 hours - Monday to raise our voice". Boom! The revolution has begun. This chain to a successful twittelution needs the following 5 things :- Voice of twitter (Trending Topics) Influential Tweeters on Trending topics Location tracing on twitter (Which has started) Higher internet usage (in countries like India) And finally The spark! Twitter can instantly connect and transfer public messages that can in no time evolve into a revolution. PS: Twittelution = Tw...

Attracting the female buyer

Finding the perfect rich female is an old movie plot we are quite familiar with. How can a today's marketer make his products sell to a female customer ? The answer is simple- By being ROMANTIC. Writing the answer or implementing a strategy although is not that easy. A romantic communication can be a good way to attract female customers. lexi has given a romantic turnover to a plain communication in her post (' Romance 101:How to use feminine words that sell ), Plain: “Solve Email Problems” Heroic: “Battle Your Email Overload” Romantic: “Love Your Email Inbox Again” The difference is that a romantic version would appeal more to a female than a plain or heroic version. As Tagore pointed out , 'We realize this truth intuitively(that everyday world has the subtle and un-obstrusive beauty of the commonplace.) through our power of love; and women, through this power, discover that the object of their love and sympathy, in spite of its ragged disguise of triviality...

The best way to celebrate

The best way is to give a call. It makes it personal without the baggage of visiting them in the choking traffic. SMS destroys the personal aspect of festival and celebration. I did not celebrate Lohri , but this was one of my most fulfilling celebration till date since I called up my family and friends and they were overjoyed. More so since they weren't expecting it. Although visiting and celebrating with them would have meant a lot more, a call did make up. Now thats what I call consumer Delight (within budgets). I feel Consumer delight in personal relationships goes a long way in strengthening bonds and build long lasting value adding relationships. Below is what India was searching most on Lohri and Pongal (Coutesy: Google trends). Better give a call than search the web for the best sms or scrap. And now its damn cheap. Just 1 paisa a second.

Online coaching in India

These days many websites are giving expert advice and connecting people with similar needs. Career counseling is one such service. Big exams such as CAT,GRE,IIT JEE are few such opportunities that open the big door for counseling and coaching. All the counseling done offline is now going online. But the problem is that the big fishes who did career counseling offline smartly went online quite early hence left little scope for startups with just an online venture. This presents start ups as limped minnows in front of big fishes as they add lesser value. As of now I feel career councelling and coaching in India needs more of an offline service supplemented by an online service if the intention is to be big.

Small gets bigger while big gets cheaper

If Tata Nano was an exception, engineers at Maruti have come up MPV Eeco , priced between 2.59 to 2.89 lakhs. With a 1200 cc engine, it can carve out a new segment in the small car category. Similar to OMNI, it certainly looks better and has a powerful engine. Auto industry has come up with very good value proposition for consumers. A multi purpose vehicle in that price range could find a huge market especially in rural India. Another interesting story is of Bruj Khalifa , the world's tallest building. A home in Bruj costs less than a similar one in a posh colony in Delhi. Woah! The bottom line is that to stay competitive, small has to get big and big needs to be cheaper.

Best deal - Apnacashback

Ever wondered where you could get the best deal on the web, cheapest air fare or the best buy for an electronic item. It may not be ebay always. Apnacashback.com scouts for the best deals on web and gives you a cash back every time you purchase. The concept seems value adding and this form of online retailing can be successful in the long run if given proper visibility. One thing they need to improve is their website design. It is not so easy to decode and hence may be a cause for sending back their customers.

Voicetap - Startup

Getting an expert could be really easy on the web. You just Google what you are looking for. But, SEO, ads have really made it tough to find a person ready to give us a true bargain. Imagine getting an expert advice free of cost and that too on phone. Doesn't seem really feasible. Well, Voicetap has made it possible. It connects you to an expert. You can connect with them through G-talk, ask a problem and decide on ta mode of communication. The only problem is that it is a feedback based system so there is a high probability that you could be talking to a product/service seller rather than an expert. Their concept will work if it gets the right set of experts and expert seekers. They have experts on knowledge. Knowledge can be divided into explicit and tacit knowledge. There is no dearth of explicit knowledge on web. Its only tacit knowledge that needs a network and interaction. And I feel that there would be hardly any people who'd be really willing to give time for somethi...

Innovation

And now TATA group comes up with a Rs 1000 water purifier. The journey from Rs. 1L (TATA Nano) to Rs. 1K (Swach) hasn't been a journey of low cost, but a journey of innovation. When we talk in a group, our voice is heard if we talk something new aka innovate. Take for instance the case of Amitabh Bachhan; he has to be innovative not because he is in a creative field, but because being ahead requires you to innovate. Amitabh's core competency was that of an angry young man. He has moved on and that is the reason he is still surving and going strong. As time passes by competition increases in each segment or competency and hence to stay ahead, there is a strong need to innovate. The greater effort we use in innovating, the faster we grow and get the beginners advantage. Had Sachin Tendulkar not reinvented himself according to the changing needs of one day cricket, I doubt he would have survived for too long. M S Dhoni too has also innovated his batting to suit h...
