Corruption? Busy, I'll call you later

People say, "let's end corruption". But how can it be? Our life is stressed out! Work, family, loneliness and relationship issues. Adding to this is a thick topping of unemployment and terrorism. Phew! We also need some entertainment and some rest. When the broom is dirty, how can it clean the room? If we are the change agents, we are the brooms cleaning the room. And clearly we are too crowded with other dust. The problem is not the room, it is the unclean broom.

Votes for Money : Voters make hay

The recent speculation of Rs 100 for vote by Mulayam Singh or the distribution of watches by a CM caught on camera have caused a lot of people to condemn such acts as a shameful mockery of democracy. While those anchors on their 24 hour News TV channels are not wrong there is another side to this event. Lets look at it from the poor voters point of view. The person getting Rs 100 is indeed very poor and knows that the government did not do enough for the last 5 years and hence they are compensating by paying them a certain amount of money. And if you think that the poor voter is poor from mind also, you are wronged. That same voter will also try and extract the maximum out of the other party and in the end his single vote (If at all single and no malpractices done) will go to one and only one party. So indeed he is smart and atleast he is draining out some money from the alleged corrupt politician. I'm purely saying this on the basis of the CBI inquiry on the misappropriate assets...

Letter to MCD

The roads of Delhi have craters deep enough to bury a man without a single burp. The banana shake in our bodies created by the shake and stir is enough now. Respected MCD officials, Being a resident of Delhi for the last 11 years I've seen the city transform from a dusty under-construction hot place to a still dusty, flyoverized place preparing itself for the 2010 common wealth games. I've known it through the highs of flyover and metro trains to the lows of BRT corridor, terror attacks, rapes, murders and thefts, but still I keep living out of compulsion, out of hope. As many say it is tough to live in a metro, the word 'live' makes me laugh at my helplessness, at my fate, still I live, out of hope and compassion for the country I was born in. You gave me the feeling of moon when I drove my car through the roads of Delhi, those craters and bumps that still echo in my head and all I want to say is thank you for your gratitude. I behaved like an obedient citizen, followe...

Satyamites criticize Infosys

There have been varying reactions by different sects after R Raju confessed his fraud. I remember when Satyam had come to visit my campus they had asked for Rs 2 lakh as security bond. Fortunately most of my batch mates did not join, else they might have lost the money. Amongst all the companies that came to my college, CSC and Infosys were preferred by most students. As freshers initially we have a tendency to just get a job, but looking at the current scenario I think all job seekers need to be aware of the company they join. One of my friends who unfortunately joined the group of 53K satyamites feels humiliated to be a part of the company. But there have been others who have criticized other IT firms who have stopped themselves from hiring people from the tainted company. One such letter in the ET says Hello Mr Mohandas Pai, Don't degrade Satyam associates to such an extent...Though there are things which have very seriously gone wrong at the higher management level we Satyamit...

Kosi flood audit

A state of people and their dreams under floods of nature and of contribution by empathetic citizens; a kettle of vultures watching the scene, waiting to pounce on anything that comes their way. This is what the Kosi flood scenario is, as of now. We may ignore it, but some of the best managed funds in India are funds raised in times of calamity. They are in surplus and the managers know exactly what to do. I might sound like a cynic criticizing people, but there is nothing wrong in what I've said. Its just that it does not appeal to the part of the people " satisfied " with this government, compromising, exactly what we've been doing till now. The nuclear deal's been great, but there is no explanation for this and the government should publish the accounts and reports of the funds and also conduct an audit for the same. This may allow them to plug an loop holes in the present scenario. Rajiv Gandhi once said that out of every rupee that is contributed, 16 paise re...

Army man in corruption and scandal

An army man(Sumeet Singh) has been arrested and police have recovered heroin worth 1 crore from him. This incident happened in the Rajouri district, jammu. The recent scandals have shown how the defense personnel are getting involved in scams and corruption. The lust of money and fake pride is slowly weakening the Indian defense forces from the inside and these incidents are just of what could could happen if India faces a major threat. Earlier to this there were a string of suicides by the CRPF personnel showing the amount of stress and torture faced by them. Read more
