Benetton kiss and UNHATE

Benetton has captured (rather created) a series of intimate moments for e.g. the US President Barack Obama and Hugo Chavez of Venezuela. They want the leaders and citizens of the world to combat the 'culture of hatred'. According to them these images are symbols of reconciliation - with a touch of ironic hope and constructive provocation - to stimulate reflection on how politics, faith and ideas, even when they are divergent and mutually opposed, must still lead to dialogue and mediation." It is a very bold attempt. Admittedly they are playing with fire and have taken on the entire world leadership in one campaign. I certainly love the idea but I don't really understand any tangible cause behind it. The idea is certainly novel but I have my reservations about its acceptance by citizens of the world. I can also see this as an attempt to get attention in the guise of a novel idea. Will people react to it positively ? Is the world open enough to understand ? Are th...

The stupid side of New Year

#1  To not offend others I'll start with my own example. My more orthodox relatives have a pooja on the morning of 1st January, whereas the younger breed goes camping at a sunrise party. I prefer to avoid both on a New Year nig since I am quite tired of the year that is about to end. (Although I'd anyday chose a sunrise party over a pooja.) The new and various forms of media like sms, email, Facebook, Twitter and abandoned orkut accounts are used to send a New Year Greeting and its really bugging. Seeing the same copied new year greeting from a search engine optimized site and deleting the message from one person three times is a big pain. Curse your stars if they end up calling you also (Although I prefer this over messages).  #3 ...

Save our Tigers - Aircel

Joining a cause gives businesses a good forum to spread their brand. Whether it is Tata Tea and Jaago Re or the  save our tigers campaign by Aircel in partnership with WWF to save India's tigers. The difference between good businesses and great businesses is this wide unsaid gap that they fill. Profits are not the key. They are mandatory. The key is how much profits are you willing to share for the people you earn from. Taking cues from Barack Obama's campaign, you can donate online. This caters to an ever increasing Indian online audience. The best part is that it is an integrated online campaign, which includes a blog (stripey), facebook page, youtube channel and twitter.
