Yuvraj Singh - People love great stories, people love hope!

You are back @ yuvstrong12 !!can't get over it!!u said that u'll be back for the worldcup, and u are! yfrog.com/nyjwkeyj — rannvijay singha (@RannvijaySingha) September 11, 2012 Yuvraj Singh flashed on the score board and the mental story board of all Indians. Almost everyone was watching with intent. As his first outing, he did great! All the prayers and his hard work seemed to have paid off. The Yuvraj Singh story is the story of a hero who is fighting back to get back his glory. This story has heroism, drama, and a constant struggle with life. When people had doubts on his comeback in cricket with the quagmire of cancer drowning him, he has worked to get out and make a comeback. His story gives people hope - A hope that they can do it too! Welcome back Yuvi!!!! We missed you. @ yuvstrong12 #respect — Abhishek Bachchan (@juniorbachchan) September 11, 2012 The same was the case with Lance Armstrong, a legend till the heartbreaking news of doping drowned ...

IPL Nights, IPL rights, IPL fights and UNITY!

I don't know whether IPL 4 will come or not but there are three things that interested me in IPL, the primary being IPL nights, the smokin hot parties. When I look at these parties, I sometimes complaint to god that why the hell did he not make me taller and broader. Basically all the knights aka cricketers aka greek gods (not all) come at one place. There are pretty looking ambitious females in the most basic of clothes who come to enjoy and there are filthy rich old pathetically looking people who come to capitalize on this union. The IPL night aka chemical reaction (biological rather) is facilitated by alcohol, music and crazy lights (or darkness). Some reactions take place and the knights get refreshed and some don't and they still get refreshed remember vitamin A. Some raiduchandamamy in turn gets access to some clubs, which he wouldn't have probably dreamed of, old  money wickets get some bones and the rest like us get a lot of gossip. All this for a price ofcourse....

Sachin 200

Sachin's double hundred is not just another milestone. Its a voice that says, "People, look at my age, Nothing is impossible". Will power is what you need when the world is ready to write you off in the name of younger blood coming in. I'm not against it either, but it is the victory of superior mental control than superior skill alone. He has given hope to a million more that it is not that tough being great, you just need to hang on (Of course luck cannot be counted out).  My student mess was all united and dancing when Sachin scored the double hundred. I'm pretty sure India would have been the same at that moment in history. More than even when we got freedom. Looking back this question comes to my mind, "Who united India ?" The answer is there. Long Live Sachin's spirit in India!

IPL Final 2- Royal Challengers v/s Deccan Chargers -Their Journey so far

IPL Final : The second version of IPL, IPL-2, was more fun, controversy and drama. Even before the beginning, the shift of venue to South Africa created a lot of controversy. Apart from the slap given by Bhajji to Sree last year, this year was a controversy ++. A "++" sign in programming languages is used to increment the variable by one. The team with the highest brand value added an extra brand, know as the Fake IPL player to its kitty. The Kolkatta Knight Riders brand was valued at a staggering USD 22 million. Now count the zeroes in that figure and those on the KKR scoreboard. Coming to the IPL-2 grand finale, the two teams that have managed to swim above the rest truly deserve the spot. The Deccan Chargers had a fantastic opening 4 games but then got lost somewhere but punched back in time to make the cut. On paper, it was and still is a deadly team. Gilly swishes the first ten and Symmo bulldozes the next ten. If somewhere anybody misses, Rohit Sharma is there to tak...

Kolkatta Knight Riders : 10 things that went wrong

The curious case of Kolkatta Knight Riders It is the most talked about and the most laughed about team of IPL 2. It did shake a few stones in IPL-1 but this year the popularity of kolkatta knight Riders has probably exceeded combined popularity of all other teams. Kolkatta Knight Riders have presented themselves like hot and spicy chicken in front of other teams of IPL, who are more than willing to have a delicious meal. So what really went wrong ? I've compiled things that happened on Kolkatta Knight Riders during the course of IPL-2, some that boosted them and quite a few that busted them. The 10 things that went wrong for Kolkatta Knight Riders in IPL-2 #1. Four Captain Theory : A four headed monster was in the mind of John Buchanan. He ended up creating a four headed behemoth eating up each other. #2. Sourav Ganguly aka Bye Bye Dada : He was simply sliced like a infected piece and removed. #3. Over demanding owner : Imagine the pressure you are under at work when your manager...

Kolkatta Knight Riders comics, jokes...

After the big or rather hugely embarrassing performance at IPL 2, all the biggies of Kolkatta Knight riders would want a safe hiding place. The team and their unintentional antics have been the butt of all jokes lately. They have also given stimulus to probably India's post popular blog, The Fake IPL player . The author claims to be one of the members of KKR. MTV in their daily show, showed five ways to insult KKR. Now can you imagine that! Few days back the Delhi Dare devils had a match against the Kolkatta Knight Riders aka Filmy riders and even before the match began, my younger cousin was confident that it would be another devil dream for the filmy knights. Shahrukh has probably decided to come back and rightly so too. He would earn more money by dancing at weddings than boosting his bust team. The story of the Filmy riders is a perfect plot for a pot boiler hindi film. But as the hindi film hero always wins in the end, a win in the movie might just add extra salt to their woun...

Preity Zinta splits with Ness Wadia

This could be said as the IPL 2's first major casualty and probably the Kings XI Punjab is a jinxed team. I.P.L season 1 had the sreesanth - Harbhajan spat and now its another break up. On the other end Rajasthan Royal's co-owner Shilpa is making merry with Raj Kundra and probably their marriage is on the cards. IPL 2 has had another dose of masala apart from the Whacking batting I've seen in the past few days. The split between Ms Dimple and Ness was confirmed by an email sent to Kings XI Punjab team by preity. Woah! We just share a professional relationship now. On the other hand the two of the most expensive players of the tournaments have disappointed too. About $3.1 million have simply been overburdening for them or probably have given critics (Charu Sharma) a chance to take a dig. Charu Sharma - remember the last year's drama. When the structures get too big, the normal engineering principles don't work. The same goes to money. The bigger the money, the bigge...

Srilankan team attacked in Pakistan

It couldn't get much worse and much more foolish than this. 5 players of Srilankan team were injured when militants opened fire at their team bus. All five had a narrow escape and Tilan Samaraweera was the only one to suffer bullet injuries and rest suffered from shrapnel wounds. This is country, which says that 26/11 terror attacks did not take place on its own soil and has a rather casual navy chief who does not even know the implications of his own words. Much has been talked about the heinous crimes being committed under the masquerade of Islam by Pakistan's own child - Taliban. So what is the solution ? The current verbal exchange between India and Pakistan undoubtedly makes Pakistan believe that we are soft on terror. But intimidating with the army on border is not a solution. The stand-off after the parliament attacks is an indicator of that. It yielded nothing. Talks of surgical strikes by Indian air force were rife after the Mumbai terror attacks, but it did not materi...

Big Money, big lesson

Today might go down in history as a day when big big money was spent on a select few while others were trying to live on 100($14.63) yuan a week . Freddie and KP managed to fetch $1.55 million each for 3 weeks of work. Recession, salary cuts, millions of job losses,US stimulus package debate...Err Is this true ??? But the bigger set back was for the pup(Michael Clarke). He was reserved for a base price of $1 million, which Mr IPL (IPL chief commissioner-Lalit Modi) said nobody was willing to offer . So to avoid humiliation pup (future Australian captain) decided to rest, atleast for the media. Now thats what I call a hay day layoff and a high ego. Anyways unemployed youth like me are more than happy to write about such tea time gossip. The western world meanwhile was bickering about the bail out stimulus package when Michael Phelps the marijuana swimmer got kellogged. IPL was giving money and Olympic champ was to have none of it. Kelloggs said that it would not renew the contract with...

Dhoni : Z+ security ?

Does Dhoni need a Z+ security ? My answer :  Yes, he needs security. He is indispensable. Here is what orkutistaan has to say Mythili : Does Dhoni need Z+ security? Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is unhappy with his Z security and it has been upgraded to Z+ security by the jharkhand govt. but does he really require it? JIGSTHAKUR : In India public need z+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ security [ very true ] * Z+ category has a security cover of 36 personnel. * Z category has has a security cover of 22 personnel. * Y category has a security cover of 11 personnel. * X category has a security cover of 2 personnel. sLuMdOg : This is a nice way to waste so much of our army men for just 1 man's security...huh.... [ Are you sure ? ] Raakeshㅤ : Joginder sharma needs it.... [ A drunk bowler certainly does not ] Đ ЅэɔЯт Z ѕтïℓ : Kapil as well.! [ Kapil Dev,the haryanvi jaat can be a part of the secuity team for sure. Nopes just joking. He might not need. The terrorists won't b...

Aahh... A Dravidian knock

" Rahul Dravid has finally struck form ".These were the lines that were flashing on almost every news channel as he scored a fifty after a million ducks. No I don't want to be cynical but he has just gone back to his old formula. Gautam Gambhir, who is considered more aggressive than Virendra Sehwag (By Viru humself, a modest confession) did not do any favours either. A lack luster day on the first day of the second test at Mohali. Although the play stopped short by 18 overs and the winters made the day even longer, the former estranged captain never seemed to get out of sleep. It was when the bowlers dozed off, he decided to go for a few shots(His classic cuts). I know fans of Rahul Dravid reading this would have their canons pointing towards me by now. You can call your shots once I am safe in a bunker (Rahul's way). It's good he has found form, but it is bad that his finding of form is being portrayed as if the world has just jumped back from recession and a bi...

India England : Round 1-India wins

The round 1 of the seven match India England matches was played at Rajkot. It was a extra-ordinary performance by the Indian team as the batting battery powered the 158 run success over the visitors. Yuvraj Singh, much like the Salman Khan of Yuvraaj was facing tough time even more since his peers including Dhoni,Gambhir and sehwag had simply overshadowed him. Although he may claim, he had nothing to prove to anybody, he still has to prove himself as a senior responsible player of the Indian team, complementing it with tests, now since Sourav Ganguly has vacated a spot. The game was truly a class magnum opus of batting and team work, with the team after being given a jet start with the consistent pair of Gambhir and Virender Sehwag. They now remind me of the days of glory of Sachin and Ganguly, when as a child I watched them crushing the opposition. Still six more to go. Kevin Pietersen, will have to regroup his team for the round-2 of the battle of this 7 match series.

Australian Media on Border Gavaskar Series

The Australian coach Tim Nielsen backed Ricky Ponting for using his part time bowlers for pacing up the slow over rate. But the Australians atleast the media wasn't in a mood to oblige. Remember the 2005 Ashes? He clearly made an error by attempting to increase the over rate last night in Nagpur when he should have been using his best bowlers at a point in the match where the test could be won. Alan Border was dumbstruck and many former players have shaken their heads in amazement that he seemed more interested in avoiding a one match ban than winning the test. The country awaits Ponting’s response. The Australian November 10, 2008 Although there were words of praise for the debutant spinner Jason Krejza who wove magic(although costly) and almost spun the whole Indian side in the first innings of the fourth test at Nagpur. There were praises for the selectors and Ricky Ponting for bringing him at the right time, but the stones kept pelting on the rest of bowling attack. Here is an...

India wins Border Gavaskar trophy 2-0

India wins border-Gavaskar trophy by 2-0, making this series a historic one.Anil Kumble and Sourav Ganguly's era of international cricket is over now and there would be a few others to follow, but the fact that India one in fair and square makes it even more sweet. It was a team effort throughout the series and almost all, except Rahul Dravid contributed in this new Indian side. The gesture of Mahendra Singh Dhoni to allow Anil Kumble to lift the cup was an act that again proves he has a sound head on his shoulders. The man of the series, Ishant Sharma, the 20 year old delhi tallie, makes it even more symbolic. On one hand the Golden greats of Indian cricket are departing and on the other hand the new guns are making a mark. I wanted Gautam Gambhir to win the man of the series award, and had he played in the last test, he would have surely got the award. This series was a touch unfavourable to the Aussies, in terms of luck. The Aussies only one the toss in the first match, the rest ...

Sourav Ganguly : The romantic end

Sourav Ganguly went out for a golden duck in his last and final outing in international cricket. The tiger came virtually running in to pounce, when laxman was dismissed for 4 by krejza. The heroes in reality don't have a fairy tale ending and like most heroes the one who gave teeth to Indian aggression, was finally out to a debutant (Krejza), who vitually got the team out single handedly. While Anil's exit was as perfect as the man, Ganguly's exit had to be dramatic, on the edge, in your face, like the prince. Some of his fans were sad at his untimely dismissal and retirement, Well, its more a time to celebrate, than to feel sad. Lets enjoy the dawn of new and young Indian cricket.

Anil Kumble bids goodbye

The Indian spin wizard bid goodbye to Indian Cricket on the last day of the third test match between India and Australia of the Border Gavaskar trophy. It came as a shock for some and a pending decision for some, but it can be seen as the fading of one era of Indian cricket and the shining of a new era. The torch has been un-official handed to the new generation of young Indian cricketers. Words of praise could miss out all the achievements of this cricketers, so I'll just prefer to stay back and let others do it. I'd just like to appreciate his honesty for the game and the high standards he kept. When he felt, he wasn't delivering his best, he decided to call quits. For this series the baton has been passed to M S Dhoni and I am pretty sure he'll be taking on the test captaincy from now on. It could be Virendra Sehwag also. He'll be remembered for much more than the 619 valuable wickets he took for India, including the 10 wickets of pakistan cricket team at the ve...

Gautam Gambhir : The rising star

There have been many rising stars of Indian cricket in the last 5 years or so. But only a few of them actually could take the longer leap to becoming a star. Many of them showed promise but only a few of them could actually be consistent. The Indian media's hype or the big endorsements, some of them are too immature to take it. looking at those who went ahead on the road of success, Gautam Gambhir's name makes its mark. He has proven it in the one dayers and test matches too. His knock of an unbeaten 149 on the first day of the third test between India and Australia [Border Gavaskar Trophy], was another reminder of a cool head on an angry young man. Sounds contradictory, but it is true. He showed the coolness while batting, but kept his stance aggressive against shane watson who tried his best to play the mind game against Gambhir. Staying cool while working is the mark of a successful man. He has shown it time and again. But today's cricketing strategists would also ask you...

Sourav Ganguly retires : The BCCI scheme

Sourav Ganguly, the prince of kolkatta, the god of offside and the first aggressive leader of Indian Cricket will finally bid goodbye to International cricket in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. This post is not dedicated for praising his achievements, but a closer look at the BCCI retirement scheme . Last one year has been particularly tough for Ganguly and he will get the benifit of retiring early (earlier than his mates, sachin and dravid) in terms of good media deals. BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) which was playing the role of Bad Boss for the last two years has given DADA a chance to redeem himself and get out of cricket gracefully (Rather than being thrown out). Being trhown out of the Indian squad regularly was humiliating for Ganguly, a fact he accepted when he said,"I was tired of being humiliated again and again". This is even tougher for a more aggressive person. The more corporate BCCI has forged out a nice retirement scheme : Retire Gracefully Scheme fo...
