Anna Hazare movement's ineffective social presence

The great Indian social media movement, the modern Gandhi, and the greatest Indian anti-corruption movement faded away into oblivion. Sad.

Technology is integrated and interacts with media. One of the prime reasons for the first phase of Anna Hazare movement was social media. Despite that it was ignored by Team Anna in maintaining constant buzz with the youth and adult population that use social media. The pen is still mightier than the sword, but the slates have changed. It is as if the pen is no longer being used to express on the slate of social media. The diminishing nature of leadership and strategic failure in maintaining a connect with the general population has eventually led to perceptions of defeatism about Team Anna.

Social media presents an opportunity to make truth run at the same pace as a lie. This is precisely described in the way the present Indian government has tried to curb the power of social media. One powerful example is the role of the government in preventing further damage by trying to curb a disgraceful sex video of its spokesperson. It is time to re-think about their media strategy.
